Event

Simmons & Simmons is delighted to have launched an international employment meet-up group in San Francisco for peer-to-peer sharing of knowledge and good practice on global workforce issues. We welcomed in-house employment counsel and HR professionals who are based in the SF Bay Area and manage international workforces to join us for our first meet-up on Thursday, 6 June 2024.

Each meet-up featured a roundtable discussion about a pressing global employment theme. Lauren Dickinson, Simmons & Simmons’ UK employment lawyer based in SF, shared insights on the topic from around the Simmons & Simmons international office network outside of the US before moderating an informal discussion. The meet-up was an opportunity to share challenges and practical approaches workforces. There was an opportunity for networking with peers and discussing international employment issues more broadly.

Our first regular meet-up was held over lunch, where we discussed hybrid working in a global workforce. We covered:

  • Global trends in hybrid working
  • Implementing and enforcing in-office requirements
  • Interaction with discrimination laws and diversity and inclusion
  • Global mobility of fully remote workforces (formal and informal)

We had limited number of attendees to ensure that participants feel comfortably sharing knowledge and practice freely amongst peers facing the same challenges. The discussion was held under the Chatham House Rule.

The event took place from 12.30pm to 1.30pm PT (registration and lunch from 12 noon) at the Salesforce Tower.
