Our international employment meet-up in San Francisco was an opportunity for peer-to-peer sharing of knowledge and good practice on global workforce issues. We welcomed in-house employment counsel and HR professionals who are based in the SF Bay Area and manage international workforces, who joined us for our meet-up on Wednesday, 11 September 2024.
Each meet-up featured a roundtable discussion about a global employment theme. Lauren Dickinson, Simmons & Simmons’ UK employment lawyer based in SF, shared insights on the topic from around the Simmons international office network outside of the US before moderating an informal discussion. The meet-up was an opportunity to share challenges and practical approaches. There was also opportunity for networking with peers and discussing international employment issues more broadly.
Our regular meet-up was over lunch, where we discussed managing culture and conduct across international borders.
We covered:
- Challenges for cross-border teams and reporting lines
- Mitigating discrimination and harassment risk in key jurisdictions
- Managing international culture and conduct investigations
We limited the number of attendees to ensure that participants feel comfortable sharing knowledge and practice freely amongst peers facing the same challenges. The discussion was held under the Chatham House Rule.
The event took place from 12.30pm to 1.30pm PT (registration and lunch from 12 noon) at the Salesforce Tower.
