Alvaro has extensive experience in banking law, financial regulation, corporate financing, real estate, and debt restructuring. Alvaro joined the Madrid office in May 2000 and has been a partner since 2002.
Before joining the firm, Alvaro worked for 13 years in the legal department of BBVA (including five years as head of the real estate legal department of Argentaria). He has also been a legal advisor, secretary, and member of the board of directors of several subsidiaries of the said banking group.
Alvaro specializes in banking matters and has a deep understanding of financing contracts, debt restructuring transactions and the secondary market for distressed debt, areas in which he regularly advises financial institutions and investment funds. He also regularly advises international financial institutions on regulatory matters.
In recent years, his work has mainly involved corporate debt restructuring operations, having participated in significant financing operations, both corporate and public entities. He is highlighted in the Legal 500 guide as a specialist in debt refinancing. He has been a practicing lawyer of the Madrid Bar Association since 1985.
