We are pleased to announce the return of our autumn webinar series, "Insuring the Future". We hosted our international insurance team in early October for five webinars on key emerging risks for insurers.

Environmental liability cover - Thursday 26 September 2024

What are the implications for insurers of a “polluter pays” approach to environmental liability in the UK and EU? Amid a growing focus on environmental protection and corporate responsibility for ESG issues, environmental insurance cover is of increasing importance to businesses. Experts from our International team compared and contrasted the legislative landscape and environmental liability cover across the EU and in the UK, addressing the scope of pollution cover, regulatory challenges, and the insurability of fines.

Cyber risk – Liability issues, financial crime and the role of AI - Thursday 10 October 2024

Our international team considered the liability, claims and coverage implications of rising cyber risks for insurers across a number of first- and third-party lines including cyber, PII and D&O. A cyber event can have wide-ranging implications and result in reputational and financial loss, regulatory responses and civil and criminal liability for business and individuals. We highlighted key considerations for insurers and insureds when managing the fallout from a cyber event, and in relation to insurance cover. AI plays a role in increasingly sophisticated financial cyber crime, and we will also look at the UK “failure to prevent” offences and the risks, in particular for D&O insurers.
