British Business Bank - SME Lending and the ENABLE Guarantee event

This seminar was designed as an introduction to the ENABLE Guarantee products for non-bank originators lending to SMEs (including SME property developers) and their current and prospective funders. It provided a forum for discussing current market conditions for SME lending more generally. During discussions, expert panellists shared their insights on various topics including:

• a general overview of the ENABLE Guarantee products, how they work and how it can help non-bank originators increase the quantum and/or reduce the cost of their wholesale financing through instruments such as asset-based, asset-backed and securitisation structures;
• an investor roundtable on the impact of the current macro-economic climate on UK SME lending including the funding landscape, market conditions, outlook and challenges; and
• a discussion exploring the benefits of the ENABLE Guarantee scheme for both non-bank originators and funders. Key figures in the SME Lending Market will share their views on the scheme and how it can benefit their business and funding transactions .

Originator Workshop:

There was also a workshop hosted by Simmons & Simmons prior to the event which outlined the differences between securitisation, asset-based and asset-backed lending. The workshop provided an introduction to the different types of structured finance transactions within which the Enable Guarantee products can be applied and will be most useful for originators less familiar with securitisation, asset-backed and asset-based lending.
