Ester is a partner in our Financial Markets group based in Hong Kong, where she leads the Hong Kong banking practice. With over 13 years of experience, she advises both lenders and borrowers in the full spectrum of banking and financing matters - including general corporate and investment grade lending and refinancing, private structured lending, acquisition and leveraged financing, and various event-driven financing transactions. Ester’s expertise is particularly focused on fund finance and secured private credit lending, where she structures bespoke financing and credit support arrangements.
Dual-qualified and having practiced locally in both Hong Kong and New York, Ester is well-versed in APAC/English and US loan market practices and documentation standards. As an active member of the APLMA Documentation Committee, Ester actively contributes to the development of market-standard loan documentation in APAC.
Before joining Simmons & Simmons, Ester was a counsel in the banking practice group of a major international law firm. She is recognised as a Rising Star in Banking by IFLR1000 and is recommended by Legal 500 in Banking and Finance.
Ester speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
