Andrea is a partner and heads our Antitrust and Competition practice in Germany. She advises on all matters related to European and German antitrust law, foreign direct investment and foreign subsidies regulation. Andrea thrives on helping clients with their most complex transactions and international merger control proceedings. She advises on anti-competitive practices, including dominance issues, state aid, compliance and antitrust investigations. Clients also turn to Andrea for advice on distribution, general EU law, sanctions and trade issues.

Andrea has extensive experience in the energy and chemical industry. She also advises clients in the TMT sector (Telecommunications, Media, Technology), and healthcare.

Andrea is named by Who’s Who Legal as global, future and thought leader for competition and regarded as an “outstanding antitrust lawyer” with “deep expertise in antitrust and compliance investigations, and abuse of dominant position cases”. Legal500 describes her as “smart, knows everything about competition law and can apply this to a fast-moving economy and constantly evolving trends in the legal landscape”. German business magazine WirtschaftsWoche lists her amongst the most renowned antitrust lawyers in Germany.

Andrea is appointed by the European Commission as a Non-Governmental Advisor to the International Competition Network and frequently speaks at ICN conferences and workshops on digital mergers, market dominance and remedies. The American Bar Association’s Antitrust Section appointed her as Vice-Chair of the International Committee. Before joining Simmons, Andrea worked in other major international law firms, including in Brussels and Copenhagen, at the European Commission in the energy and state aid unit, and at an energy fund in Sydney.

Andrea is a regular speaker, lecturer and author in various European and international publications and magazines. She is fluent in German, Romanian, English, French and Danish, and also speaks some Spanish and Italian.
