Competition Investigations

As leading advisers in this complex field, we are experts in international cartel, abuse of dominance and industry sector investigations.

We have represented defendants in some of the largest and most high profile investigations conducted by the European Commission and national competition authorities in Europe.

We have hands on experience of international cartel investigations and cutting edge abuse of dominance cases, as well as in depth merger investigations. We have also successfully launched some of the most high profile complaint cases in front of the European Commission.

Much of the investigations work we undertake involves complex multi-jurisdictional issues and co-ordination with lawyers within our network and elsewhere, competition authorities or other regulators in parallel investigations around the world, including in Asia, North and South America and increasingly requires consideration of potential criminal liability.

Our sector knowledge allows us quickly to develop a deep understanding of our client's business and this guides our defence strategy from the outset of an investigation.

We have particular expertise in advising on investigations into hi-tech industries and the interface between intellectual property rights and competition law.

We also help clients put in place effective compliance and audit programmes as well as providing guidance and training on how to handle dawn raids.

We represent corporates and individuals involved in investigations conducted by one or more of a range of bodies. Those include: the European Commission and the national competition authorities in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the UK.
