Sarah is Of Counsel in the Financial Services team, with over 20 years’ specialist financial regulation experience gained at leading firms and through secondments to investment and digital banks.
A versatile lawyer, Sarah advises both buy- and sell-side clients on legal and regulatory challenges. Her expertise spans investment services, banking, home finance/consumer lending, payments/e-money, insurance regulation, financial crime, and consumer law.
Sarah’s broad experience (retail and wholesale), technical capability, and adaptable skill set enable her to provide creative and commercial advice, including:
- Supporting innovative product/service launches for market entrants and established players
- Guiding clients on regulatory perimeter questions
- Managing BAU legal and PRA/FCA regulatory requirements (domestic and international)
- Advising on regulatory change and mapping projects
- Scoping and implementing authorisation/variation of permission applications
- Providing guidance on domestic and cross-border structuring and reorganisation exercises
Key areas of focus include:
- Advising banks, investment firms, and fintechs on setting up and participating in vanilla and structured deposit platforms for retail and non-retail clients, including trust structuring and prudential requirements (e.g., PRA reporting, FSCS coverage, outsourcing, and resolution).
- Advising firms on client assets/depositary and client money requirements, responding to CASS audit findings, and establishing custody/sub-custody relationships.
- Structuring wealth management services, including model portfolio and personal pension offerings, and drafting client-facing terms for consumer duty and unfair terms compliance.
- Advising on consumer lending, including point-of-sale finance and property-related financing, and supporting secured finance transactions with the structured finance team.
