Priya is a partner and barrister in the Intellectual Property (IP) group. Priya has over 20 years’ IP litigation experience leading complex, often business-critical litigation from pre-action and clearance stages through to trial. Priya specialises in multi-jurisdictional tech disputes involving medical devices, software, big data and other disruptive technologies. Priya is an experienced patent litigator and also leads Simmons’ copyright and trade secret litigation practice in the UK.

Priya has represented many household names across the life sciences, technology, fintech and media sectors. Priya has acted in a number of reported IP cases in the IP Enterprise Court, High Court and Court of Appeal in the UK, to the Court of Justice of the EU in Luxembourg and often involving parallel proceedings abroad in national courts, the EPO and the UPC.

Priya also regularly advises clients on the IP issues associated with the use, training and development of AI and GenAI tools. Priya is shaping Simmons’ use of AI technology at the firm as a member of Simmons’ AI Steering Group. Priya also co-leads our Business Protection Unit together with our Employment group, to help businesses better protect their valued company information and trade secrets, and in related disputes arising from employee moves.

Priya has been recognised as “an exceptional IP litigator” and a “Leading Partner” by Legal500 (Copyright) UK; is named as a “Star” by Managing IP’s IP Stars; is “Recommended” for Patent Litigation by IAM Patent 1000; is included in World Intellectual Property Review’s Leaders; and has been nominated for UK “Patent Practitioner of the Year” in Managing IP’s EMEA Awards.
