Class Actions and Group Litigation

A new era for collective redress and mass claims has arrived

Mass claims and class actions are being brought on diverse grounds and by diverse means, backed by ever-developing funding arrangements. Risks to businesses from the increase in group litigation will vary by location, sector and forms of available action, but we expect forum-shopping by claimants to require vigilance beyond national borders.

Corporates and financial backers are increasingly vulnerable to group and collective actions, and the impact of damages or settlements on company values can be dramatic. Identifying, tracking and assessing risk which may give rise to mass claims has become essential yet challenging in this fast-changing landscape.

As well as acting on a range of mass claims and collective actions, we routinely advise corporates and financial institutions - and increasingly individuals or stakeholders in positions of influence - on risk mitigation to make informed decisions (commercial and legal).

Acting for both defendants and class representatives means that our team has genuine experience of bringing and defending these types of claims. Moreover, having a dedicated in-house litigation funding experts ensures that we understand the intricacies of managing multi-party claims supported by litigation funding, including the role funding can play in shaping a case, influencing decision-making and informing both claimant and defence strategy.
