Spencer

Jonathan is a partner in the firm's Insurance and Construction group. His practice primarily focuses on resolving claims against construction professionals/contractors, and also regularly advises London market insurers on complex professional indemnity coverage disputes. He also has experience in broker negligence claims.

Jonathan is ranked in the Legal 500 2025 edition as a "Leading Partner" for Professional Negligence work, and previously ranked in the 2023 & 2024 editions as a "Next Generation Partner”. Jonathan is recognised as:

Jonathan's experience spans a wide variety of construction disputes involving: iconic buildings; sports grounds; schools/universities; hospitals; large residential schemes; listed buildings; commercial/retail; and renewable energy facilities - in the UK and internationally. His caseload regularly involves mediations, arbitrations, adjudications and High Court litigation.

Jonathan also advises construction professionals and their insurers on environmental/ESG risks, as the move to greener construction gathers pace (including modular construction).

Jonathan has undertaken a year-long client secondment at a major international insurer, and he has also created the Policy Wording Toolkit - an online product that outlines key policy coverage issues across several jurisdictions to help insurers manage risk.
