George is a partner in the Dispute Resolution Group in China and heads Simmons & Simmons’ Beijing Intellectual Property Agency. In this role, he advises clients on the protection, commercialisation, and enforcement of intellectual property rights in Mainland China, with experience in complex IP disputes, trade secret protection, IP-related commercial agreements, brand protection, and regulatory IP matters.
George is known for providing clear, practical, and commercially grounded advice in high-stakes matters. Clients value his ability to identify strategic pathways through complex IP issues and to develop creative yet pragmatic strategies that support effective outcomes in challenging circumstances.
Since joining Simmons & Simmons as a partner in 2014, George has led the establishment and growth of the Beijing IP Agency. Under his leadership, the agency has been recognised by leading legal rankings, including World Trademark Review, Managing IP, Chambers, The Legal 500 and Asian Legal Business, as well as by China’s IP professional associations, including the China Trademark Association and the Beijing Trademark Association.
Prior to his career in law, George obtained a Ph.D. in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University, with research focused on bioinformatics and endocrinology. His scientific background informs his approach to complex technical and life sciences-related IP matters.
