International law firm Simmons & Simmons has advised LOGISTIS, a pan-European logistics platform managed by AEW, on the development and letting of the two-storey logistics park Mach2.
AEW is one of the largest real estate investment managers in the world with €82.2bn in assets under management across all property types in North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific. AEW started to develop the LOGISTIS platform in 1999 and has since closed various investments across Europe with a total volume of more than €4bn.
The construction is one of the first of its kind in Germany, covers 123,000 m² and is fully leased before completion. The main tenant will be Airbus, which will take 62,000 m². The completion of the project started in the first quarter of 2022.
The Simmons team was led by real estate partner Boris Strauch and supported by supervising associate Gabriel Gregori. Together, they advised LOGISTIS regarding the development management agreement, construction contracts and the lease agreements.
Commenting on the deal, Frankfurt based partner Boris Strauch said: “This is a significant investment for our client. In today’s world, space in metropolitan areas is increasingly rare. However, innovative approaches like Mach2 are creating solutions. In the coming years, the LOGISTIS portfolio is set to grow further and we hope to continue our work with the client and offer them a one-stop advisory service.”
Simmons advises AEW and its managed companies on a regular basis. Most recently Simmons advised the company on the development and the letting of the Panattoni Park Rangsdorf.
