Boris has almost 20 years’ experience in real estate, advising on transactions as well as project developments across the full life cycle – from site assessment (zoning, building and environmental law) and preliminary agreements through to completion and sale. He also advises on alternative transaction structures, including forward deals and investor models.
A further key focus of his work is regulatory and public law advice in the fields of renewable energy and infrastructure. He is a member of the Energy, Renewables and Infrastructure (ENRI) team at Simmons & Simmons Germany.
His recent work includes advising:
- Panattoni Europe on a set of project developments of logistics warehouses in Germany for Amazon and many other customers as well as on speculative projects
- a pan-European private equity investor with respect to asset management topics pertaining to their wind farm portfolios, including advice on several of the first wind farm repowering projects in Germany
- clients on real estate in special situations (together with Simmons & Simmons’ restructuring and insolvency team)
- data center developers, operators and investors on their investment and development activities in Germany (in particular VIRTUS Data Centres on its market entry in Germany and Infranity on an investment related to Germany).
Boris joined Simmons & Simmons as a partner in Frankfurt in February 2021, having previously worked at leading international law firms. He studied law in Potsdam and Paris (Licencié en Droit). He was appointed notary in Frankfurt in November 2022. Since May 2025, he has been Co-Head of the firm’s international Cross-Border Real Estate Group alongside Ali Crosthwaite.
He regularly publishes (e.g. Recht der Energiewirtschaft, NZM, Deutscher Anwaltspiegel) and has been consistently recognised as “Best Lawyer for Real Estate in Germany” since 2021. He is also co-author of a commentary on the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG-Handkommentar, Nomos, forthcoming edition).
