Russell is an Of Counsel in the Financial Services Regulatory group in London. He has extensive experience providing strategic guidance on complex, cross-border regulatory issues related to the global distribution of financial products and services. He leads the ongoing maintenance of the firm’s navigator product - its flagship innovative solution for clients spanning institutional asset managers, private and investment banks, wealth managers and distributors - in managing their regulatory obligations. Russell has been instrumental in the platform’s expansion and evolution, overseeing and maintaining international counsel relationships, and providing crucial insight and support to teams delivering bespoke cross-border projects for major financial institutions.
A transactional funds lawyer by background, Russell brings a wealth of in-house and private practice experience. He has previously worked in-house at both a hedge fund and asset manager, advising on a range of legal and commercial issues. Prior to that, Russell spent several years at another international law firm, specialising in private fund formation, restructuring, and wind-up.
