Ali is a legal engineering specialist bridging the gap between law, technology, and data. He focuses on the design, development, and deployment of AI tools that support legal teams and improve operational efficiency. His work spans: (i) AI adoption and integration strategies, (ii) generative AI platforms and applications, and (iii) AI governance and literacy training.
Since joining Simmons & Simmons in 2023, Ali has played a key role in developing Percy, the firm’s internal generative AI platform, and delivering bespoke large language model (LLM) solutions for both internal and client use. He has supported clients across sectors with responsible AI adoption through tailored training, solution design, and strategic implementation.
Ali also contributes to broader business transformation initiatives, embedding AI into legal workflows at scale and integrating emerging technologies into day-to-day practice. His work supports major digital transformation projects for clients looking to improve how legal services are delivered and managed.
His background is in academia, where his research focused on the intersection of law and AI. This experience informs his ongoing work on advanced LLM capabilities, including retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, and agentic systems, and their application in legal and regulatory settings.
He is a key contributor to the firm’s AI literacy programme, designing and delivering training to build confidence and understanding around AI within the firm and for clients.
