Stuart Storry is a Supervising Associate in our Disputes & Investigations team. Stuart has broad experience in litigation, arbitration and regulatory investigations, including particular experience in civil fraud and financial crime.
Stuart's recent experience includes acting for the Claimant in Suppipat and Ors v Narongdej and Ors [2023] EWHC 1988 (Comm) in a successful claim alleging unlawful means conspiracy for over $850 million, including subsequently obtaining of a Worldwide Freezing Order and appointing interim receivers against the Defendants located in Hong Kong. The case was featured in The Lawyer's Top 20 cases of 2022.
Stuart has represented the Man Group Plc in Public Institution for Social Security of Kuwait v Al-Rajaan & Ors, including obtaining permission from Swiss authorities for adducing evidence into English High court proceedings. The case is one of The Lawyer's Top 20 cases of 2025.
Stuart advised HSBC Bank plc during the Monitorship, Independent Consultant Review and Skilled Person review of the bank instigated by the US Department of Justice, the Federal Reserve Board and the Financial Conduct Authority respectively. Stuart participated in reviews of HSBC's money laundering polices and procedures across the EMEA region including the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, the UK and Malta as well as at Group level.
Stuart has advised a major financial institution relating to potential exposure to an investigation instigated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore into money laundering in the private wealth market. The case is Singapore's largest money laundering case and has resulted in $3 billion in assets seized.
He has experience of managing DIAC, LCIA and ICC arbitrations including recently assisting a client seek an anti-suit injunction with respect to separate court proceedings. In addition, Stuart has also advised a nation state concerning liability under a cross-undertaking given in order to obtain a Worldwide Freezing Order.
