Gordon is a managing associate in our Financial Services Regulatory team in London, as well as being a member of the Global FinTech team. He has several years’ experience in the financial services sector, having previously worked at a global custodian before retraining as a lawyer.
Gordon primarily advises on the UK regulatory perimeter, and works across a wide range of clients, including banks, asset managers, and FinTech firms. For the past four years Gordon as specialised in providing advice in relation to cryptoasset regulation and licensing issues, both to traditional financial institutions, as well as cryptoasset businesses.
He works regularly with some of the world’s leading cryptoasset exchanges and custody wallet providers, as well as hedge funds, and asset managers, advising on cryptoasset regulation in the UK, and globally. Gordon has helped develop the firm’s Cryptoasset Reviewer product, a fully searchable online database of crypto regulations across a number of jurisdictions, covering areas such as issuance, lending, AML, marketing and research.
Since joining Simmons & Simmons Gordon has spent time on secondment to a global institutional investment manager.
Gordon Ritchie’s legal expertise and guidance has been invaluable to the creation and design of the product CryptoReviewer.
