Rogers

Ian is one of the leading advisors to investment managers and investment firms doing business in France.

A partner in our Paris office, Ian leads the French asset management practice. He has helped a number of clients obtain their licence as either a regulated investment manager (AIFM or UCITS) or as an investment firm (MIFID). Ian has also launched French and offshore funds for our fund manager clients. In addition to advising on regulatory matters for investment firms and investment managers, Ian helps clients set up French branches of regulated entities and comply with their ongoing obligations. Ian also chairs the firm's international exchange traded-fund practice and advises clients on listings on Euronext and the London Stock Exchange.

Ian has also pioneered the creation of a reporting unit to help investors comply with disclosure obligations (triggered by EU and local rules) that require disclosure of long and short positions, including during takeover periods. Ian also provides strategic advice to clients with large positions in French issuers and works with our European counterparts for pan-European investments.

Ian joined the Simmons & Simmons London office in 2000, and in 2004 moved to our Paris office where he subsequently took over responsibility for the French asset management practice. He became a partner in 2009. Ian is qualified both as a solicitor of England & Wales and as an Avocat à la Cour in Paris.
