International law firm Simmons & Simmons this week welcomes eight students to its first-of-its-kind dedicated AI law internship programme.
Running from 13 to 24 April in London, the intensive two-week programme will give interns hands-on experience in both tech-focused and legal AI roles within the firm’s thriving AI team – one of the leading AI practices in the profession.
Over the course of the internship, which designed to enhance both technical and legal skills, students will work alongside Simmons’ top-ranked international AI experts on cutting-edge projects shaping the future of AI law and governance, as well as AI enablement and transformation within legal services.
Those on the programme are in their penultimate or final year of an undergraduate course, as well as postgraduate students and graduates. Opportunities for a future role at the firm will be open to stand-out individuals on the programme.
Peter Lee, Partner and AI Governance Lead, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming our talented interns this week. As AI reshapes how legal services are delivered, it is vital that future lawyers and technologists understand both the opportunities and the risks. This internship gives students direct exposure to real AI matters and practical skills that will be central to their careers.”
Minesh Tanna, Partner and Global AI Lead, commented: “AI is transforming the legal profession, and we want students to see the breadth of careers at the intersection of law and technology. Through our unique internship, students will experience how we advise on complex AI issues and deploy AI tools within the firm, helping to build the next generation of legal professionals.”
