Andrew is a managing associate in the employment group and advises clients on a wide variety of employment issues, including contentious, non-contentious, and transactional work as well as employee investigations.
On the contentious side, Andrew has experience of Tribunal litigation, including unfair dismissal, harassment and equal pay claims and experience of High Court injunctive proceedings. Andrew’s non-contentious experience includes drafting contractual documentation and reviewing and drafting company policies. His transactional experience includes overseeing due diligence and drafting the relevant employment provisions for business and share purchase acquisitions in both a UK and multi-jurisdictional context. Andrew’s investigations experience includes investigations with significant regulatory involvement (both UK and overseas).
Andrew joined Simmons & Simmons in January 2019 and qualified as a solicitor in 2015 at another international law firm. He has also spent nine months on secondment in Hong Kong and, as a trainee, spent six months on secondment to a major oil and gas company.
Some of his recent work includes:
- successfully defending an investment bank against an employment claim relating to unfair dismissal and sex discrimination
- assisting with a number of high value employment claims relating to unfair dismissal, equal pay and/or discrimination claims
- advising clients on general employment lifecycle issues, including senior hires, terminations, settlement agreements and assistance with employee grievances
- leading on employment diligence for a key strategic purchase by an asset management client of a target with employees split across 12 countries
- assisting an asset management client with a complex divestment involving a pre-sale corporate reorganisation and TUPE transfer.
