Munich: leading tech hub hosts Digital Day events spanning GDPR, blockchain, generative AI, data utilisation, ESG, and tech investments

A prominent tech hub, Munich is home to industry giants like Microsoft, Amazon and Google, as well as a thriving community of innovative starts ups, research institutions and venture capital firms. With its concentration of high-tech industries, including automotive, aerospace, IT, software and biotech, Munich attracts a highly skilled workforce, and is a fitting location to kick off our series of Digital Day events.

We start with reflections on five years of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the challenges yet to come.

We explore the world of blockchain and its transformative potential now that the hype has settled, and its practical applications in cryptocurrencies and crypto securities. As we venture into digital assets, we hear fascinating insights from the lawyer who played a pivotal role in placing the first digital bond on public blockchain.

Of course, the exciting and sometimes disconcerting world of Generative AI takes centre stage. As tools like ChatGPT inch closer to mainstream adoption, we find ourselves at a tipping point when this advanced technology can be used by almost anyone: no training or prior experience needed. We hear from a former Silicon Valley machine learning researcher, who shares his valuable insights and expectations for generative AI.

We cannot overlook the pervasive presence of data. We discover how a major automotive supplier harnesses the value in its data for better commercial outcomes.

We also find out whether it’s possible to reconcile carbon-intensive new technologies with ESG and sustainability priorities. And we look at the implications of rising interest rates on investments in new tech.
