Stefan is a Partner (Employment) in our Brussels office.

His practice is primarily focused on assisting companies, as well as their senior executives and directors, in managing complex and strategic issues related to human resources law. As such Stefan advises clients on all aspects of labour law, social security law, international employment/mobility (economic migration law), employment contracts and policies, dismissals, non-compete clauses, privacy protection at work, worker status (employee/self-employed), pay transparency, work flexibility, and HR aspects related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A). He also supports clients with collective redundancies, restructurings, business transfers, collective disputes, strikes and lockouts, and helps optimise salary packages and extra-legal benefits, as well as conducting social audits. Stefan regularly represents clients before the competent courts.

As a labour law guest-professor since 1996, co-editor of a legal journal by Kluwer, and a regular speaker on labour law issues (Vlerick, Kluwer International, ABA, ERA, etc.), he combines in-depth expertise with a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach.

Stefan is consistently recognised as a leading individual in his field. Since 2007, The Legal 500 has ranked him among the top ten "Leading Individuals", describing him as a "leader", "responsive", "well-connected", and "pragmatic", and appreciating his "in-depth knowledge, commitment and problem-solving ability". In 2018, he was inducted into The Legal 500's "Hall of Fame". He is also referenced in Chambers Europe, Who's Who Legal, Best Lawyers, and the Leaders League ranking (EU). In 2021 and 2022, he received the Corporate Counsel Client Choice Award (Lexology), and in 2023, was named the most influential Belgian labour lawyer by Business Today.
