Ala is an associate in the Disputes & Investigations group with a broad practice spanning litigation, regulatory investigations, and financial crime. She has a unique background that combines in-house regulatory compliance experience at an international investment bank with robust litigation experience at international law firms. This dual perspective allows her to provide commercially astute and practical advice to financial institutions and corporate clients.

Ala advises clients on the implications of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA), with a particular focus on the new 'failure to prevent fraud' offence and reforms to corporate criminal liability. She also advises on the application of key financial crime legislation including bribery, fraud, sanctions and money laundering compliance. Her practice encompasses a range of disputes, acting for financial institutions in relation to commercial disputes and contentious regulatory matters, advising corporates on investigations into fraud, and advising high-profile former executives on giving evidence to the Post Office Horizon Inquiry. Ala's in-house background provides her with a deep, practical understanding of the financial services landscape. There, she was responsible for key regulatory projects, including the implementation of the Market Abuse Regulation and MiFID II, as well as compliance reporting to the board.
