Jochen Schnepper is a partner in our Frankfurt office and a member of the Real Estate team as well as the Financial Markets practice group.
Jochen focuses his banking practice on real estate finance transactions, acting for family offices, private equity firms, debt funds, and other institutional investors. He advises on senior/mezzanine structures, domestic and cross-border financings, and has expertise in different types of financing products, including Schuldschein loans and debt capital markets instruments. He also advises on leverage and buy-out finance.
Recently, Jochen has dedicated a considerable part of his practice to financial restructurings, distressed debt investing, and other special situations. He regularly advises on complex restructuring mandates and workout situations, including those involving Schuldschein loans and multi-layered financing structures.
His recent experience includes:
- Advising MARK Capital Management on all German law aspects of a pan-European credit facility with a leading US bank for their investment fund.
- Advising Slate Asset Management on various acquisition financings and refinancings for German grocery stores.
- Advising Melcombe Partners on various acquisition financings and refinancings for German logistics properties as part of their pan-European logistics portfolios with a total financing volume exceeding EUR 1 billion.
- Advising Clarion Partners on various single asset and portfolio financings for properties throughout Germany with a total financing volume exceeding EUR 500 million.
- Advising Marcol on the financing for their German self-storage portfolio managed by an Opco/Propco structure.

Jochen joined Simmons as a Partner in the Frankfurt office in September 2025. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner at a leading US law firm, where he focused on real estate finance and restructuring matters. He was admitted as a German lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) in 2013.
Jochen holds an LL.M. in International Financial Law from King’s College London, completed a foreign year at LUISS Guido Carlo University in Rome, and earned his law degree from the University of Passau.
