Michael Bulckaert is a Managing Associate in the Brussels Dispute Resolution team, admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2015. With over a decade of experience, Michael specialises in commercial law and litigation, with a strong focus on public procurement and product liability. Michael advises a diverse clientele, particularly in the HLS and TMT sectors, on complex commercial disputes, public procurement, and product liability, and is a trusted advisor for clients navigating challenging legal landscapes.

As an expert in public procurement, Michael provides comprehensive support throughout all stages of the tendering process, from analysing tender documents and preparing offers to challenging non-award decisions and representing clients in court. He regularly delivers inhouse trainings and speaks at the beMedTech academy on the topic. As a key member of the firm’s Public Procurement Group, Michael also assists clients with cross-border procurement matters.

Michael is also experienced in product liability. He successfully defends clients in court and facilitates out-of-court settlements on product liability matters. Michael co-authored the product liability chapter in HealthTech: Law and Regulation and is a speaker at the beMedTech academy on the topic.

A skilled litigator, Michael appears regularly before courts across Belgium, handling commercial disputes, cease-and-desist and injunction proceedings, asset seizures, product liability and public procurement litigation. He is also experienced in out-of-court settlements, mediation and procedures before the Council of State. Michael has developed a versatile skillset, successfully managing a wide range of cases across sectors. His expertise spans commercial disputes, international trade, unpaid invoices, construction liability, counterfeit, distribution, asset recovery, investment and corporate control conflicts and court-ordered expertise.

Michael has been seconded to legal departments of different multinational companies.
