Member States' unilateral FTTs

Frustrated by the slow progress on agreeing a common EU FTT, some Member States are pursuing their own FTTs...

A number of Member States supportive of the FTT have decided to pre-empt any problems in obtaining the necessary support for an EU wide FTT and press ahead in the interim with their own domestic transactional taxes.

Italian Financial Transaction Tax

The Italian Parliament has passed the Stability Law, which, inter alia, introduces an Italian FTT with effect, in part, from 01 March 2013. (21 June 2013)
