Seismic changes to UK Employment Law in 2027 - Uncapped compensation for unfair dismissal claims and reduction in qualifying period of service from 2 years to 6 months - what Irish employers with cross border activities need to know now!
We held a webinar on 2 June at 9:00 BST / 10:00 CET, focusing on an imminent and seismic change in employment law in the UK, including the reduction in the qualifying period for unfair dismissal from 2 years to 6 months and the removal of any cap on unfair dismissal compensation under the UK Employment Rights Act 2025 (ERA).
In this session we heard from our partners in International Employment Practice Group from the Simmons and Simmons in the UK and Ireland, who consider what uncapped compensation and protection from unfair dismissal after 6 months means in practice for Irish employers with UK operations or exposure, including the impact on senior exits, settlement strategy and workforce risk.
The webinar was practical, to the point and highlighted the key issues cross border businesses should be considering now in advance of the change early next year.
Speakers:
- Mandy Perry (UK)
- Colleen Cleary (Ireland)
The session was concise, lasting approximately 30 minutes.
