Whether you're managing compliance, advising on litigation risk, or planning for what's next, this series is designed to help you stay ahead of the curve.
Avoiding financial crime crosshairs: FCA intervention, APP Fraud, Sanctions, and Payment Pitfalls
In its recent 5 Year Strategy and updated Enforcement Guide the FCA made clear its increasing focus on financial crime enforcement. In this session we identified key risk management lessons to take from past financial crime related enforcement notices and how they are shaping a focus on sanctions controls and other emerging areas of compliance risk.
Speakers: Caroline Hunter-Yeats, Alexandra Webster and Douglas Robinson
Consumer redress: top 5 things you need to know
Consumer redress is in focus in 2025 - the Supreme Court handed down its judgment in Johnson, Wrench & Hopcraft on 1 August, the FCA is reviewing the redress system and HMT is reviewing FOS. In this session we identify key lessons from past redress exercises, where risks can arise for firms delivering redress and how mass redress events may arise and be effected in the future.
Speakers: Douglas Robinson, Thomas Makin, Caroline Hunter-Yeats and Matt Handfield
Greenwashing and sustainability: litigation, what regulators are targeting and how to minimise risk
While political developments have seen a resurgence of "anti-ESG" litigation and regulatory enforcement in the US, sustainability claims and greenwashing continue to be a key focus in the UK and globally. This talk explored the increasing scrutiny surrounding corporate sustainability claims, with a particular focus on greenwashing risks in marketing, investment, and credit practices. We also covered the role of the Competition and Markets Authority in investigating misleading environmental claims and the powers of the Advertising Standards Authority to regulate greenwashing in advertisements. Additionally, we discussed the broader implications of sustainability disputes, including how investment and credit risks are impacted by inaccurate or exaggerated environmental claims, and how organisations can navigate these complex challenges while mitigating legal and reputational risks.
Speakers: Robert Allen and Frances Gourdie
