International Employment Meet-Up: April 2025

Simmons & Simmons next International Employment Meet-Up will take place in San Francisco on Wednesday, 16 April 2025.

The International Employment Meet-Up is a community of in-house employment counsel and HR professionals based in the SF Bay Area and managing international workforces. We focus on peer-to-peer sharing of knowledge and good practice in global workforce issues.

Each meet-up features a roundtable discussion about a global employment theme. Lauren Dickinson, Simmons & Simmons’ UK employment lawyer based in SF, shares insights on the topic from around the Simmons & Simmons international network*. We then open up the discussion for attendees to share challenges and practical approaches.

At our April meet-up we’ll discuss using AI in talent acquisition and people management. We’ll cover:

• Global trends in the use of AI in the recruitment and HR contexts.
• Data protection considerations in UK and Europe under the GDPR.
• The EU AI Act and how it’s relevant outside of the EU.
• Bias, discrimination risk and defending legal claims related to AI tools.
• Contracting with HR Tech vendors.

We limit invitations to this event to those working in-house in HR and legal roles to ensure that participants feel comfortable sharing knowledge and practice amongst peers. The event will take place from 12.30pm to 1.30pm PT (registration and lunch from 12 noon) at the Salesforce Tower.
