Integrating ESG strategies and risk management in financial services
Join us for a panel discussion led by Capco partner Dr. Olaf Clemens, and Dr. Harald Glander, partner in our Frankfurt office.
Following our recent event with Capco, we are very pleased to invite you today to a webinar organised by them. The event is part of a series on the theme of Defining the Future of Sustainable: “Integrating ESG Strategies and Risk Management in Financial Services”.
The material impact of ESG, particularly in the context of climate change, on institutions’ counterparties or invested assets means sustainability risks are increasingly under the supervisory spotlight. The European Banking Authority views ESG risks to be drivers of existing risk types and is accordingly recommending that ESG risks be integrated within business strategy, risk management and governance structures.
Firms’ strategies and models must therefore evolve. Typically, ESG risks viewed as a more nebulous strategic risk, falling within their strategic risk or Capital & Liquidity management processes. However, ESG (including climate) risk is expected in time to be viewed as a transverse risk, cutting across risk classes (operational, market, credit, liquidity, conduct).
Panellists include:
- Anna Sophie Herken, Business Division Head at Allianz Asset Management GmbH
- David R. Koenig, President and Chief Executive Officer, The DCRO Institute
- Johan van Duyvendijk, Managing Director at UBS
- TBD
The panel discussion will be followed by an interactive audience Q&A session, moderated by Harald Glander and Olaf Clemens, with topics including: What does ESG mean for an asset managers’ current and longer-term strategies? How should sustainability risks and the different facets of E, S and G be integrated into the risk management framework – and how do E, S and G risk factors affect risk management, monitoring, measurement, stress testing, and reporting? What data is required – and what is available – and how can ESG risks be scored and quantified? What are the required next steps to ensure compliance with key global regulatory requirements such as the EU taxonomy for sustainable activities?
We look forward to welcoming you to this jointly led panel discussion.
