Julian will take up the mantle once incumbent senior partner, Colin Passmore, steps down after 10 years in role on 31 July 2021. Colin has been with Simmons for 35 years, with his term as senior partner spanning the last decade.
Julian joined Simmons in 1999 and was promoted to partner in 2003, going on to lead the firm’s global and UK employment practices from 2016.
Commenting on Julian’s election to the role, Colin said: “I would like to congratulate Julian on his election. I've witnessed his dedication to the firm and our clients over the past 22 years. I know that he brings the right qualities, skills, and experience to lead the partnership and Simmons to continued success. The firm is in good hands.”
On his appointment, Julian said: “I’m excited to have been elected senior partner. The firm has a great culture of looking forward and embracing change - technology being a big part of that. As a firm, we will continue to deliver excellent service to our clients, helped by continually challenging ourselves around how we work, how we deliver smarter solutions and how we ensure diversity of talent and thought - both with lawyers and across the other disciplines that are essential to the services we provide.
“I’m really looking forward to leading a modern international firm into its next phase. Finally, a very big thank you from the firm to Colin who has done a tremendous job in his 10 years in the role.”
