Simmons wins in three categories at the British Legal Awards

We are delighted to be recognised in three categories at the British Legal Awards 2022 for our work on the sale of Chelsea Football Club.

International law firm Simmons & Simmons is pleased to announce that it has been recognised in three categories at the British Legal Awards 2022, with the firm scooping the M&A Team of the Year (Large Deal), together with Northridge Law and Pillsbury, for its work on the sale of Chelsea Football Club.

The firm was also crowned Competition / Regulatory Team of the Year for its work advising on the Petrofac case, described as one which “broke new ground in many areas and was highly complex in scale and scope”, whilst Disputes partner Minesh Tanna won The Rising Stars – Private Practice Award where he was praised for his “leadership and thought leadership in a novel and highly contentious area”.

Commenting on the win for his team, Corporate partner Mark Curtis, said: “I am delighted that our team has been recognised as the M&A Team of the Year at The British Legal Awards. Advising Chelsea Football Club on such an important and highly complex transaction is a great testament to the team and to the firm’s cross-practice capabilities and strength of collaboration and creativity.”

Stephen Gentle, partner and head of Simmons Criminal Law team, added: We are thrilled to have been recognised for our work on the Petrofac matter. This award recognises the continued efforts and hard work of our Crime team, and is a demonstration of our position as a market leading Crime group, not just in the UK but also across the globe.”

Reflecting on his win, Minesh Tanna, commented: I’m honoured and grateful to have won the Rising Stars – Private Practice Award. To be recognised is not just a win for me personally, but to the dedicated and hardworking people I work with daily and the firm as a whole.”

Simmons was also highly commended in the M&A Team of the Year (medium deal) category for its work advising APG Asset Management N.V on the recommended consortium break-up bid for GCP Student Living.

Last month, Simmons was recognised in two categories at the FT Innovative Lawyer Awards Europe; the Innovative Leader Award and the most innovative in Designing the Client Experience.
