Partner promotions 2021

Today we announce the promotion of 13 lawyers to our global partnership. This is one of the firm’s largest promotion rounds of the last decade.

The promotions will take effect as of 1 May 2021 and the new partners are from across eight offices, with 12 based in EMEA and the UK, and one in Asia. As new partners, they will focus on supporting the firm's clients across its four global sectors and on delivering smarter solutions in these challenging times.

Six of this year's partner promotions are women, which combined with figures from the previous two years, means that nearly half (47%) of partner promotions over the last three years have been women. For the third year in a row, Simmons has exceeded its target of having 40% female partner promotions.

The new partners and areas of practice are:

Commenting on this promotion round, senior partner Colin Passmore said: “This is the last round of partner promotions that I will oversee. I am therefore pleased and proud to see that once more our target of promoting at least 40% new female partners has been exceeded. In the last three years, just under half (47%) of our partner promotions have been women - demonstrating our ongoing commitment to gender diversity. As for this year’s successful partner candidates, I am impressed and excited by their quality and commitment to the firm. They have come through in exceptional times. The last year has been a time of unprecedented upheaval for our clients and this cohort of lawyers has been rightly recognised for their resilience and creativity in delivering smart solutions to new and complex challenges. Together, they demonstrate that our future is in very good hands.”
