COVID-19: Belgium - the return to work roadmap
The plan to move towards hybrid working from June.
We have outlined the Belgian government's plan relating to work related changes only. Please do contact one of our team for further or more comprehensive detail.
From 9 June: (Only if 80% of the vulnerable persons have been vaccinated and fewer than 500 Covid-19 patients in intensive care).
- Working from home is still mandatory, but every week each employee is allowed to return to work for one day. In this way, a maximum of 20 percent of the employees will be present at the same time. In small companies with less than 10 employees, a maximum of 5 people may be present at the same time. In this regard, the employer can respond to the need of some employees to take appropriate measures to maintain the connection of teleworkers with their colleagues and with the company, and to prevent isolation. In doing so, the employer shall pay particular attention to vulnerable teleworkers. The part-time return to work does not affect the obligation to maintain all the preventive measures within the company.
From 1 July: (Only if 60% of the adults have been vaccinated and less than 500 Covid-19 patients in intensive care).
- Working from home is no longer mandatory, but remains recommended.
- Preventive measures from the generic guide remain applicable.
As from 1 September:
- The intention is that all restrictions end from 1 September 2021.
