Nigel is a Singapore-qualified advocate and solicitor (2004) and a solicitor admitted in England and Wales (2009). He read law at Durham (St Aidan’s College).
As Of Counsel in Singapore, Nigel advises business owners, directors and stakeholders in responding to special situations, workouts and restructuring, insolvency risks, rescue finance, in dispute resolution, insolvency claims and in cross-border tracing and recovery strategies. He has acted for clients at all levels of the Singapore courts, in mediation (including SMC) and international arbitration (including SIAC, JCAA, SLNAC, BANI). He is a Fellow of the Insolvency Practitioners’ Association of Singapore (IPAS), a Member of INSOL and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
Nigel leads corporate investigations in Singapore and the region to trace and recover assets, respond to fraud and employee conduct and address governance issues. He advises companies and directors assisting with regulatory investigations. Nigel is a Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE) and 3-term board member of the ACFE-Singapore Chapter. He is currently its President.
As a CSE Certified Sustainability (ESG) Practitioner, Nigel advises corporates on their sustainability goals and on value creation opportunities.
Nigel has been recommended by Who’s Who Legal across several years, including as Global Leader in Asset Recovery 2021 to 2024, as National Leader in Southeast Asia – Asset Recovery 2021 to 2024 and for his work in Investigations in 2015 and 2019. He joined Simmons & Simmons in August 2021 and was previously a partner at the largest law firm in Singapore.
