Our experience

Project Finance International Award 2016

Simmons and Simmons was awarded 'Project Finance International Award 2016 for PPP Deal of the Year for the Middle East and Africa Regions'. This deal included advising Mitsubishi Corporation and TEPCO as sponsors on the development and financing of the US$ 3bn 2,400MW / 130MIGD Facility D independent water and power project in Qatar.

M&A for Veolia

Advising Veolia on the £1.2bn disposal of its UK regulated water business to Rift Acquisitions, an investment vehicle formed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Funds and Infracapital, part of the Prudential Group; on the €199m acquisition from United Utilities PLC of certain non-regulated water interests in the UK and Europe and the subsequent sale of three water PFI projects in Scotland to Barclays Equity Infrastructure Funds and Macquarie Infrastructure and finally on its acquisition of unregulated businesses of Thames Water Services Ltd (including several developed through private finance initiatives).
