International law firm Simmons & Simmons is proud to announce that it has won Real Estate Team of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2022.
Simmons was recognised for its work advising on the maiden listing on the International Properties Securities Exchange (IPSX), the UK’s newest regulated stock exchange dedicated to the trading of companies owning real estate assets and revolutionising the property and investment market.
The client involved in the listing was Mailbox REIT plc, managed by M7 Real Estate Limited, a leading specialist in pan-European multi-tenanted commercial real estate, with around EUR 4.3 billion assets under management. On 14 May 2021, Mailbox REIT plc became the first company to be admitted to trading on IPSX, marking an historic moment for the exchange and on the journey to open up a £1 trillion asset class to a much wider group of investors.
The cross-practice Simmons team who delivered the listing was led by real estate partner Ali Crosthwaite, supported by corporate partners Isabella Roberts and Andrea Tompkins, tax partners Martin Shah and Zoe Arnautov, funds partner David Williams and banking partner Helen Hagan.
Commenting on this win, Ali Crosthwaite said: “I am delighted that our team has been recognised as Real Estate Team of the Year at The Lawyer Awards. Advising M7 Real Estate on the first listing on the IPSX was a once in a lifetime mandate and played to the firm’s cross-practice strengths of collaboration and creativity. Playing a part in creating early momentum for IPSX is a point of pride for the firm and we are excited about sharing our first-hand experience with future issuers onto the exchange.”
The win follows a strong period of growth for the real estate team, led by John Kelsey, culminating in the recent double partner hire of ex-head of real estate Jonathon Wilkes and Ashley Davidson from Stephenson Harwood.
