International law firm Simmons & Simmons has strengthened its UK tax disputes practice with the appointment of Henry Bennett-Gough as a partner in its London office.
Henry joins the firm after a decade at PwC, where he co-led the Financial Services Tax Dispute practice. Highly regarded for his technical expertise, he brings significant experience in complex direct tax disputes, representing clients in HMRC enquiries, investigations, and litigation.
Henry also brings strong client relationships, with particular experience supporting leading businesses and institutions in the asset management and investment fund (AMIF) and financial institutions (FI) sectors – complementing the firm’s existing client base. His arrival will further enhance Simmons & Simmons’ UK tax disputes offering, enabling the firm to respond to increasing client demand for first-rate advice on complex, cross-border disputes.
Commenting on the hire, Heather Rowlands, Partner, said: “Henry has a strong track record in the financial services sector and his arrival will significantly strengthen our tax disputes practice – providing valuable support to our clients, particularly in the AMIF sector.”
On joining Simmons & Simmons, Henry Bennett-Gough said: “I am pleased to join a firm with such a strong reputation in tax disputes and the financial services sector. I look forward to working with the team and supporting a wider pool of clients as they navigate a landscape of increasingly complex contentious tax matters.”
