Over the past year, Simmons & Simmons has acted as lead counsel on many of the most high profile ENRI transactions. These include advising UAE renewables company Masdar on its €3.2bn (enterprise value) acquisition of Greece's Terna Energy, in what was one of the largest ever transactions in the EU renewables industry. Other significant matters the practice has worked on include the €145m takeover of mining royalties company Trident, and Atalaya Mining PLC on its move from AIM to Main Market.
Iain Duncan, partner and head of Simmons’ Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Cross Border Group, said: “Throughout the first half of 2024 and 2023, our international Energy, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure team continued to provide expert advice on many high-profile deals. Our team has been at the forefront of complex and high-value transactions, demonstrating unparalleled expertise and commitment across our global network of offices. From innovative renewable energy projects, critical metals transactions to strategic M&A. Our involvement in these underscores our dedication to driving progress and creating value in the ENRI sector.”
Looking ahead, ENRI corporate partner Alexander Keepin, commented: “The remainder of 2024 going into 2025 looks like it will remain busy. We are not seeing any let up across our offices globally for securing critical minerals supply and for renewable energy projects, and so we expect to see the strong start to 2024 continue.”
