International law firm Simmons & Simmons has advised WebN Group (WebN) on a recent investment.

International law firm Simmons and Simmons has advised WebN Group (WebN) – an incubation hub for fintech and Web3 innovators backed by Alan Howard – on an investment that will further strengthen WebN’s position in the institutional digital assets landscape.

Laser Digital – the digital asset subsidiary of leading global financial services group Nomura – has invested in the fintech and Web3 incubator, supporting its goal of developing innovative products for the financial services industry.

The Simmons team advising the deal was led by Corporate partner Patrick Boyd, assisted by Corporate associates Oli Gingell and Tom Grace.

Patrick Boyd commented: “We are delighted to have worked with the WebN team on Laser Digital’s strategic investment - the investment and resultant collaborative opportunities will I’m sure greatly enhance WebN’s ability to continue introducing innovative blockchain-based products and services to financial institutions.”

Barbara Walshe, Head of Legal, WebN Group UK, added: “The Simmons team has been advising WebN since its incorporation and their deep knowledge of the business, along with their technical knowledge and experience of the startup and financial services industries, was very valuable in successfully closing the investment.
