Simmons advises BNRG on its joint venture with Impax

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has advised global solar developer BNRG on a joint venture with LSE-listed Impax Asset Management.

Dublin-headquartered solar power developer BNRG has agreed a joint venture with Impax to develop and potentially acquire more than a gigawatt of solar projects in the US and Ireland. In Ireland, the partnership will progress BNRG's existing development portfolio of over 600MW of solar projects including 55MW of projects that recently received 15-year Government offtake tariffs in the Irish RESS 2 auction. BRNG and Impax are aiming to bring the RESS 2 portfolio into construction in the coming months.

BNRG is an Irish-based, global power producer that specializes in the development, construction, and operation of utility-scale solar projects. It has more than 3GW of active projects in the development pipeline across Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Commenting on the deal, BRNG Head of Legal Eoin Langford said “The team at Simmons were commercially-minded and did a great job of partnering with us on this transformative transaction for BNRG”.

The Simmons & Simmons team was led by corporate partner David Brangam with assistance from Lev Gantly, Andrew Fullen and Patricia McCarvill.
