Simmons Paris welcome Thomas Le Gueut, agrégé in private law

Thomas Le Gueut will work closely with the firm in a distinctive role at the intersection of academic excellence and the practical application of business law.

The Paris office of international law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced that Professor Thomas Le Gueut has joined the firm as Of Counsel. A Professor of Private Law at the University of Montpellier, he will work closely with the firm in a distinctive role at the intersection of academic excellence and the practical application of business law.

Holding a doctorate in law from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University, Thomas Le Gueut is an agrégé professor of private law and a qualified French lawyer (CAPA, "Jean-Louis Debré" year). He has taught at Université Grenoble Alpes and Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, before joining the University of Montpellier, where he co-heads the Banking and Finance Law Master's programme and leads the DJCE corporate law certificate courses.

He will support the firm's teams across a wide range of matters, in particular civil and commercial litigation, corporate law and finance. Working primarily on a cross-practice basis, Thomas Le Gueut will help further enhance the legal and strategic quality of the firm's most complex matters.

Thomas Le Gueut comments: "I am delighted to be joining Simmons & Simmons, a firm whose culture particularly resonates with me - notably its constant dialogue between contentious and transactional teams, its focus on technological innovation and its relentless pursuit of legal excellence. I am convinced of the strong added value that can be generated by combining academic insight with legal practice in today's highly dynamic legal environment, and I look forward to contributing to the firm's collective momentum by providing technical support to the lawyers handling its most complex matters."

Jacques-Antoine Robert, Managing Partner of Simmons & Simmons' Paris office, adds: "The arrival of Professor Thomas Le Gueut is fully aligned with our ambition to combine academic excellence, practical pragmatism and uncompromising quality. His expertise strengthens our capabilities on technically demanding matters and also reinforces our commitment to training, knowledge-sharing and intellectual rigour, which are essential pillars of our firm's culture and appeal."

Admitted to the Paris Bar since 2018, Thomas Le Gueut previously practised with Veil Jourde and then Simon Associés, before joining Simmons & Simmons.
