Simmons & Simmons donates £2m to Covid relief charities

Simmons has announced a charity donation to support with Covid relief efforts around the world.

Following the announcement of its robust financial performance, international law firm Simmons & Simmons has pledged to donate £2m of its global profit to charities providing relief to those affected by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Publishing its financial results last week, Simmons reported profits of £171m, up 35% on the previous year.

The donation pot of £2m will be split across Simmons’ international offices, meaning that charities across the firm’s network will be able to benefit. Distributing the donation this way will give local offices the autonomy to reward organisations doing important work either in their local communities or further afield.

Commenting on the donation, senior partner elect Julian Taylor said: “It is testament to the hard work of our international team that we are in a position to reflect our values in this tangible way. It’s been a very tough year but the entire Simmons team pulled together to support our clients. The strong financial results we have recorded, coupled with the significant and long-lasting impact of the pandemic have driven us to make this one off donation.”

Julian continued: “While it has been a good year for Simmons, we are acutely aware that the same cannot be said for everyone. Making an additional charity donation of £2m is our way of holding ourselves to account and recognising the broader social responsibility that we have. Part of being a next generation law firm is understanding this social responsibility and acting accordingly.

“It is fitting that the donation pot be split across our offices, to recognise that no two experiences of the pandemic have been the same and that different countries will have different legacies to contend with. I hope that this donation serves as a clear statement of our intention at Simmons to be driven by our values of collaboration and running our business responsibly as we look to the future.”
