International law firm Simmons & Simmons has today announced that its London restructuring team will grow with the hire of Tina Lockwood as a partner in the London office. Tina will join the firm on the 4th February.
Tina joins the firm from Milbank where she spent nearly three years as special counsel with the firm’s financial restructuring group. Her practice is focused on complex, cross border restructuring and insolvency matters, advising a mixture of distressed debt funds, bondholders, banks and financial institutions. Tina was a member of the team that moved from Cadwalader to Milbank in 2018. Prior to joining Cadwalader, Tina worked in the restructuring team at Linklaters, where for a number of years she was the lead associate on the Lehman Brothers administration among other cases.
Tina will join existing UK restructuring partners Ross Miller and Peter Manning in the restructuring & special situations team in the London office. Simmons has also hired a team of restructuring associates to further build out the capacity in this team, reflecting that restructuring is an investment priority for the firm and an area of strategic focus.
Commenting on Tina’s arrival at Simmons, head of restructuring & special situations Ross Miller said: “Our restructuring & special situations practice has been extremely busy in recent years, with high profile roles on many of the largest restructurings to occur in the European market, including Intu, Clarks, NMC, Marme, New Look, Fairhold, Debenhams, Interserve, Johnston Press, Carillion and many others. Tina has a broad range of experience, covering everything from financial restructurings to black letter insolvency law, which will complement and strengthen our existing distressed investment and special situations practice.”
Ross continued, “We are also delighted to add Laura and Cort to our team, who, together with Rhiannon Paine who joined from Milbank last year, bring valuable experience which will significantly strengthen our practice. We are an ambitious team with further growth in the pipeline and we feel ideally positioned to continue to take on larger restructuring mandates as many sectors continue to take stock of the impact of Covid-19.”
On joining the firm, Tina said: “I am delighted to be joining Simmons & Simmons’ restructuring & special situations practice as a partner. My experience in working on many high profile restructurings and insolvencies during my time at Milbank, Cadwalader and Linklaters, fits well with the existing distressed investor and special situations practice at Simmons & Simmons. I look forward to working closely with Ross and Peter to grow the Simmons & Simmons practice in what we all expect to be a very busy period for restructuring professionals.”
*Tina’s appointment is subject to standard SRA approvals.
