The Hot 100 recognises and celebrates the most innovative and creative professionals who have shaped the legal profession in the previous year, and look set to do so in 2020 and beyond.
Ben’s career has been unconventional in comparison to the traditional pathway to the legal sector; including 15 years serving as a British Army Officer, before undertaking an MBA at Warwick University. He has been leading the charge as Simmons’ innovation and business change director since 2016.
This year’s Hot 100 commends Ben for his role in propelling the firm toward the acquisition of legal engineering company Wavelength, an ambitious deal representing a significant step towards Ben’s vision for the firm. This commitment to innovation is also reflected in the expansion of Ben’s team at Simmons, which has grown from one man, to a department of two teams with the business imperative to deliver smarter solutions for clients.
Commenting on his inclusion in this year’s Hot 100, Ben said: “I’m honoured to have been recognised alongside so many outstanding professionals and change makers. Since joining Simmons, I have had a clear mission to help the firm place innovation at the core of its client offering. The Wavelength acquisition was a significant moment for the firm and it now sits alongside the other highly successful non-traditional businesses the firm has grown in recent years, together with a constantly expanding digital products capability. The future looks good for Simmons, our clients and, judging by this list, the sector as a whole.”
