Simmons & Simmons was named Best International Law Firm in Hong Kong, at the Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2018, and shortlisted in five other categories:
- Best International Firm for China
- Best Gender Diversity Initiative by an International Firm
- Best International Firm for Work-Life Balance
- Best International Firm China Practice
- Best individual in Labour and Employment
The APAC-wide awards celebrate the advancement of women in the legal profession, particularly for those practitioners leading the field in their respective practice areas and firms; they also recognise firms and in-house teams who are setting the standard in female-friendly working practices.
Our successes at this year’s awards reflect the work done by the firm broadly and by the Hong Kong branch of Simmons’ women’s network The Number One Club (TNOC).
Set up in 2008, TNOC’s aim is to support the retention, attraction and development of talented female colleagues and to build new business relationships and opportunities with existing and prospective female clients of the firm. The network supports the development and implementation of the firm's diversity and inclusion strategies and policies in areas which are relevant to women.
This year, TNOC celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
We also conducted a survey to understand the true power of women’s networks and their importance in industry. Respondents came from clients and members of external women’s networks. The research found 56% of respondents felt that greater management buy-in was an important factor in whether a women’s network could be viewed as successful.
