The ambitious and award-winning Young Talent Programme is a secondary school programme in partnership with Frederick Bremer School in Walthamstow, London. It is designed to raise students’ aspirations through a series of ongoing, longer-term initiatives that provide access to the legal profession and wider work opportunities.
As part of its ongoing commitment to social inclusion, Simmons & Simmons welcomed the seventh cohort of Year 10 students onto the Young Talent Programme for their work experience week.
Over five days, the students spent time in both legal and business services departments and took part in a number of workshops, particularly skills development such as presentation skills, negotiation skills, career mapping. A session on commercial acumen was also delivered by Gavin Lawson, Gilead.
This year, the students were set a presentation task on artificial intelligence in the workplace and showcased their presentations to their family members, teachers, friends and supervisors at the end of the week.
Jenny Smith, Head Teacher at Frederick Bremer school said: “The success of the programme lies in its long-term commitment in supporting pupils from the beginning of GCSEs through to University and enabling them to make informed choices about an incredibly competitive and changing world of work. The Simmons & Simmons partnership has transformed our practice, and inspired our pupils.”
