Commenting on the appointment, partners Charles Mayo and Helen Hancock said:

“The scope of this panel will include work of notable innovation and
complexity including matters that can impact on national financial
stability, cover issues of national importance, or involve the
management of major risks to taxpayer interests. This appointment is
an endorsement of our ability to deal with novel, first time and
urgent matters for HM Government and of our track record of delivering
resilient outcomes that meet the often complex requirements of matters
conducted in the public domain.”

Jonathan Hammond, head of the firm’s international financial markets practice group, added:

“This appointment will allow Simmons & Simmons to draw on both public
and private sector experience to provide finance and complex advice to
UK Government. Working for the public sector demands fresh thinking
and innovation to achieve the best outcomes in the most complex and
urgent situations.”
